Lunar New Year 2022: Year of the Tiger

Last month we met the year with a roar at Top Ryde City Shopping Centre welcoming the Chinese New Year – The Year of The Tiger.

The Challenge

The Event Space requested an eye-catching Lunar New Year Display at Top Ryde City Shopping Centredesigned to tie in with other planned activations taking place during LNY celebrations (from late January to mid-February 2022). Their brief was quite specific. Next Printing was given a strict budget and asked to create an environmentally friendly 6000mmW x 2000mmD plinth encompassing free-standing tigers and a bamboo backdrop. The display would also need to be visible from all sides (and above) and add life to the empty space on the shopping centre’s mezzanine level.

The Solution

Next Printing suggested the engineered paper product Reboard displays as the solution. Reboard is eco-friendly, can be cut and folded into 3D Structures and with custom designed locks, is easily assembled and dismantled. In addition, to add some pizazz to the direct CMYK printed plinth and backdrop, CMYK ink was printed over mirror gold vinyl to create a striking metallic finish. This printed vinyl was then mounted to the Reboard and profile cut to create the free-standing tigers.

The Execution

Practical and lightweight, the plinth component was pre-assembled in our factory and transported to site by our installer. Allocated only a 4-hour installation window, the tigers and bamboo backdrop were slotted into place and the display was bumped-in quickly before trade. At the conclusion of the festivities, the centre arranged for the disposal of the display through normal paper recycling streams.

The Event Space said ‘The display looked great and filled out the mezzanine space really well. The client was very happy with it’.
